SSSA Fellow

Deadlines:
Award, Fellow, and Scholarship nominations initiated by April 09, 2013
Reference Letters and Final Nomination submission by April 17, 2013

SSSA Fellow are members of the Society who have been nominated by other members of the Society (except members of each Society's Fellows Committee) to receive the honor of Fellow. Fellow is the highest recognition bestowed by each Society. Up to 0.3 percent of each Society's Active and Emeritus Members may be elected to Fellow.

Eligibility

  1. Nominators are required to be members of SSSA.
  2. Nominators can nominate up to two people per Society.
  3. Nominees are required to be members of SSSA - 10 years active membership. To verify a nominee's membership status, access the member directory through the SSSA home page, call the Membership Department, 608-273-8080, or email headquarters at soils.org.
  4. The nominee will have made outstanding contributions in an area of specialization whether in research, teaching, extension, service, or administration and whether in public, commercial, or private service activities.

    List membership in professional, honorary, and academic societies. (Character Limit: 1500)
  7. Service to the Society
    List service to the Society. Include national, regional, and state activities, i.e., appointed positions, elected position, other service. (Character Limit: 3000)
  8. Other Service
    List other service such as significant committee work or service to other professional or honorary societies. (Character Limit: 3000)
  9. Achievements in Teaching, Extension, and Industrial Education
    Please indicate percentage of time or weight (Note: For this qualification, indicate percentages of time or weight, totaling 100. Assigning zero to one or more qualifications will not weaken the nomination; enter "0%" or "zero weight" if it is not applicable to the nominee.) for teaching, extension and industrial education. Describe significant contributions in teaching, extension and/or industrial education in (a) communicating ideas clearly, and (b) influencing attitudes or motivating favorable action, to a significant degree, with students or clients. Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of publications supporting the nominee's performance. (Character Limit: 3000)
  10. Achievements in Investigative Competency
    Please indicate percentage of time or weight (Note: For this qualification, indicate percentages of time or weight, totaling 100. Assigning zero to one or more qualifications will not weaken the nomination; enter "0%" or "zero weight" if it is not applicable to the nominee.) for investigative competency. Describe significant contributions in investigative competency. Significance and originality of basic and applied research contributions and evidence of creative reasoning and skill in obtaining significant data. Evaluate quality and effectiveness of research publications. (Character Limit: 3000)

    Describe the nominee's technical or nontechnical publications, patents, and efforts to develop or improve programs, practices, and products. List up to 12 of the most significant professional contributions of the nominee. (Character Limit: 4500)

    Summarize the most significant personal and professional achievements which you believe qualify the nominee for election to Fellowship in the Society. (Character Limit: 1500)

Add References To Nomination

Provide contact information (name, full mailing address, phone, and email) for three individuals who will submit online reference letters.

Note: Monitor these three letters online under "Nominations" as you will need to log in and submit the completed nomination containing the three reference letters.
