America/New Zealand Soil Science Professional Exchange Award

The America/New Zealand Soil Science Professional Exchange encourages bi-directional sabbaticals between scientists in the U.S. and New Zealand to foster enhanced cooperative soil science research. Funds for the exchange are provided through the Agronomic Science Foundation and the selection process is administered by the Soil Science Society of America and New Zealand Soil Science Society. The travel grant is in the amount of $3000.

Eligibility

  1. The 2012 exchange will accept proposals to support hands-on research activity of a New Zealand scientist to the U.S.
  2. Nominees are required to have at least seven years of membership in SSSA or the New Zealand Soil Science Society.
  3. Applications will be evaluated upon merit; longer research visits will carry additional weight.
  4. This award allows self-nominations. Fill out the Nominator Registration (or log in to your Awards Program account) and put your contact information into the Nominee Contact Fields.

Evaluation

Proposals for exchanges are evaluated by a committee consisting of five New Zealand Soil Science Society members or five Soil Science Society of America members as outlined in the ANZSSPEF Charter. The host country committee makes the selection each year with concurrence of the counterpart committee from the visitor's country.

Nominee Qualifications:

  1. Proposal of Research
    A concise proposal of research to be conducted as part of the exchange. (Character Limit: 6000)
  2. Curriculum Vitae
    A curriculum vitae, citing up to 10 of the nominee's most significant publications. (Character Limit: 6000)
  3. Statement from Host Institution
    A statement from the intended host institution indicating willingness for such an exchange and the extent of its cooperation in the proposed research. (Character Limit: 3000)

Add References To Nomination

Provide contact information (name, full mailing address, phone, and email) for three individuals who will submit online reference letters.

Note: Monitor these three letters online under "Nominations" as you will need to log in and submit the completed nomination containing the three reference letters.
