International Service in Crop Science Award

Deadlines:
Award, Fellow, and Scholarship nominations initiated by April 09, 2013
Reference Letters and Final Nomination submission by April 17, 2013

The focus of this award is on creativity and innovation in bringing about specific changes in practices, products, and/or programs in the crops area at the international level. The award consists of a certificate and $1000 honorarium.

Eligibility

  1. Nominees are required to be members of CSSA.
  2. Nominees must be living at the time of their nomination.
  3. Nominators are required to be members of CSSA.
  4. Teams are eligible if the following qualifications are met:
    • At least one member of the team is required to be a CSSA member.
    • Where other disciplines are represented, the CSSA member(s) will be a major contributor (50% or more) to the team effort.
    • Only publications where all team members are authors or honors and awards received by the team will be listed. Individual efforts are to be omitted.

Evaluation

  1. Creativity and innovation as reflected through the scientist's overall contribution.
  2. Evidence of credibility, integrity, and professionalism.
  3. Influence or impact of the nominee in a foreign country.
  4. Evidence of the nominee's contributions on long lasting change in some aspect of crop science at the international level.
  5. Educational contributions made either directly or indirectly through international graduate students.
  6. In recognition of the nonconventional environment in which the nominee is working, nonrefereed types of publications will be recognized.

    Describe contribution or impact of nominee internationally, including evidence the contribution resulted in lasting change in some aspect of crop science. (Character Limit: 6000)
  6. Creativity and Innovation
    Describe creativity and innovation as reflected through nominee's international contribution. (Character Limit: 4500)
  7. Educational Contribution
    Describe educational contribution that has had an international impact. (Character Limit: 3000)
  8. Professional Contributions
    Describe the nominee's technical or nontechnical publications, patents, and efforts to develop or improve programs, practices, and products. List up to 12 of the most significant professional contributions of the nominee. (Character Limit: 4500)
  9. Evaluation
    Summarize in this section the primary contributions on which the nomination is based. Give the nominees contributions and their impact in one or more of the evaluation criteria given in the Award Description and criteria sections, clearly and explicitly (Character Limit: 3000)

Provide contact information (name, full mailing address, phone, and email) for three individuals who will submit online reference letters.

Note: Monitor these three letters online under "Nominations" as you will need to log in and submit the completed nomination containing the three reference letters.
