Agronomic Industry Award

Deadlines:
Award, Fellow, and Scholarship nominations initiated by April 09, 2013
Reference Letters and Final Nomination submission by April 17, 2013

The intent of this award is to recognize outstanding performance by a private sector agronomist in the development, acceptance, and implementation of advanced agronomic programs, practices, and/or products. Personal relations, professionalism, integrity, and credibility will be highly valued. The award consists of a certificate and $2000 honorarium.

Eligibility

  1. Nominators are required to be members of ASA.
  2. Nominees are not required to be members of ASA.
  3. Nominees for this award will be within the private sector and will not be employed by any public agency including colleges and universities.
  4. Nominees must be living at the time of their nomination.
  5. Teams are eligible if the following qualifications are met:
    • At least one member of the team is an agronomist.
    • Where other disciplines are represented, the agronomist will be a major contributor (50% or more) to the team effort.
    • Only publications where all team members are authors or honors and awards received by the team will be listed. Individual efforts should be omitted.

Evaluation
  1. The emphasis will be on the individual's support of ASA goals.
  2. Personal growth in a particular field of endeavor; impact on associates, farmers, and the public at large.
  3. The nominee's influence on company programs and directions or on development of products or varieties.
  4. The individual's performance on assignments, rather than the variety or scope of assignments, will be the major consideration.
  5. Qualities such as innovativeness and good citizenship as evidenced by community service will be taken into consideration.

    List membership in professional, honorary, and academic societies. (Character Limit: 1500)

  6. Professional Contributions for the Agronomic Industry Award
    Identify and briefly list the contributions other than publications on which the nomination is based. The intent of this award is to recognize outstanding performance by a private sector agronomist in the development, acceptance, and implementation of advanced agronomic programs, practices, and/or products. Personal relations, professionalism, integrity, and credibility will be highly valued. The emphasis will be on the individual's support of the goals of ASA; personal growth in a particular field of endeavor; impact on associates, farmers, and the public at large; and on the nominee's influence on company programs and directions or on development of products or varieties. The individual's performance on assignments, rather than the variety or scope of assignments, will be the major consideration. Other qualities such as innovativeness and good citizenship as evidenced by community service also will be taken into consideration. Nominees for this award must be active within the private sector and must not be employed by any public agency including colleges and universities. (Character Limit: 4500)
  7. Professional Contributions
    Describe the nominee's technical or nontechnical publications, patents, and efforts to develop or improve programs, practices, and products. List up to 12 of the most significant professional contributions of the nominee. (Character Limit: 4500)
  8. Evaluation
    Summarize in this section the primary contributions on which the nomination is based. Give the nominees contributions and their impact in one or more of the evaluation criteria given in the Award Description and criteria sections, clearly and explicitly (Character Limit: 3000)
